Three-day weekend - Gakkenflex TLR film camera

Gakkenflex TLR

First week of uni has been busy but somewhat enjoyable. Rosy visited on Friday and we shopped and ate for three days, my two favourite activities. Must finish UTS assignment today. Thankfully it's a public holiday so I have all day. No excuses.......but the weather's so beautiful today.

Sayonara natsu yasumi - photos taken with Olympus trip 35

There's something calm and comforting when you fall asleep to the sound of rain. The crisp Autumn breeze is perfection these days in comparison to the horrid humidity we had to endure for four consecutive months.

Gakken TLR

Look who did a whole lot of assembling this afternoon. So much for doing my proposal in the study room.

I can finally use the TLR camera that I bought in April!

Thanks to Blinded by Light I didn't have to spend another extra hour looking up all the kanji I didn't know on the instructions.

Loaded film and can't wait to test shoot tomorrow!

I'm addicted

Work it!

It's the 3rd of October and I have not handed in my project proposal which was due 4 days ago.
I MUST finish it today. I WANT to get it over and done with and not have it lingering in the back of my mind this week when uni starts.

No more lazing around in my room.
Off to the 勉強室 (study room) I go!

Distortion in film is still beautiful to me - Olympus Trip 35 film camera

I really like the hues that came out on these film shots I took with my Olympus Trip 35 that I bought at the Meiji Park flea market.
I accidentally opened the back of the camera but, you know, this is what I love about film - there is beauty even in the imperfections and "mistakes". You never know what to expect.

Yakiniku dinner with Kat

Thanks Juzz!

Thanks Rosy!

[20101002 Saturday]

I have the worse sleeping pattern at the moment. I sleep at 4-5am, wake up at around noon and it's worse when I take a nap. This is not a good sign especially days before uni starts again because I am going to be like a zombi for the 8.50am classes. It doesn't help with my sugar-filled junkfood diet for the past few days, making me feel bloated and fat the whole time! I really need to get out of this cycle.

Anyway, I went out for Gumyoji yakiniku with Kat for dinner and, as usual with yakiniku, we were so full. Shortly after, Rosy and Juzz arrived in Gumyoji and we all pigged out on the Krispy Kreme and Sweet potato treats they brought along with them, despite the fact I was still full with all the meat I ate moments ago, and caught up along with the usual girly chitchat. It was really nice to have friends over and just chill out together, something I haven't done in awhile!

Pearls of wisdom

"Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become." - Steve Jobs

Words of wisdom that I needed to hear.

I love Hokkaido

Flower Land, Furano

The 7-day trip to Hokkaido in August was, by far, the best trip I've been on in Japan.
I also got to finally drive a car in Japan, making use of my International Drivers Permit. Teehee.
I want to go back.

It was.

One word.

Picturesque.

Kansai trip

Osaka

Kobe

Nara

Kyoto

During the two month summer holidays, I didn't take my DSLR to any of the trips I took since lugging around extra kilos was out of the question for me. I regret not taking my Holga which has been abandoned for awhile. I guess I need more inspiration for photography.
This semester (uni starts next week) I want to get back into it and, like what I did pre-Japan, I want to post up a daily photo log. Kind of like the 365 project but it would be a 6-month project for the rest of the months I have in Japan. I think it'll be fun. I also intend on joining the photography circle (I did visit last semester but never signed up) and actually actively participate and overcome my laziness!
Speaking of laziness, this whole week was so unproductive. I can't believe I wasted a week of holidays. But to be completely honest, I think I secretly enjoy doing nothing. Nothing. When will I ever have this sort of freedom, right? But, no, at the age of 23, I don't want to be wasting my youth away by doing nothing.
